• most of the story is set in bangkok, thailand. the prose and descriptions are absolutely beautiful. you can basically smell the humid summer air in bangkok and taste mango on your tongue as you read• interesting and unique shou-chasing-gong dynamic that subverts the norms• in the first half you can see how and why shou fell in love, and in the second half you can see how he succeeded in pursuing the man he loved• gong does not believe in love, and author explains how that came by well. author also makes his acceptance of shou's feelings in the end believable.• (or you might not think so! but you won't know if you don't read!)• interesting characters that you might or might not resonate with• there's a lot of communication as they try to understand each other. you get to see how two very different approaches to love clash against each other• they're weird but together they make a good pair. peak opposites-attract ship
